P2P is a part of the Restoration Movement which was founded in the early eighteen-hundreds in the United States. Barton W. Stone and Alexander Campbell led the movement under principles of unified Christianity through standing on the teachings of the Bible itself, and on the example set by the first century church which was recorded in the book of Acts.
Person to Person Ministries was established in 1967 under the direction of Larry "Bus" Wiseman (Director 1967-1979) with the help of several Southwest Ohio residents who stepped up to the challenge to begin an evangelistic ministry that would reach out to families. The ministry was originally called Person to Person Evangelism. It was in 1972 that Person to Person Ministries began hosting their Family Camp Meeting at the Marvin Wilson farm outside of Hillsboro, Ohio. About 15 families camped out and about 200 people were in attendance at that first Family Camp Meeting. Soon 73 acres were purchased and named Restoration Acres. We now have 158 acres of campgrounds, with 200 to 300 and thousands of people coming each year for the annual Camp Meeting.
From 1979 -1999 Dean Mills served as the Director of Person to Person Ministries. P2PM flourished during his tenure. The campgrounds were more than doubled from the original 73 acres with the purchase of 80 additional acres. Restoration Acres was further developed including the expansion of the original adult meeting place, the construction of the present Teen Barn, the Main Pavilion, a pavilion for school age children, a Kiddie Korral, and restroom and shower buildings throughout the campground. Initial construction began on the Resource Center as well during Dean’s service with Person to Person. Programming grew as well during the 20 years Brother Mills was Director as P2P began the annual Men’s Clinic (now the Spring Clinic), a Preachers Seminar (now the Church Leaders Seminar). A Seniors Retreat, a Couples Retreat, and a Gospel Sing were held which have been discontinued.
Under the leadership of Kerry Allen (1999-2020), Person to Person Ministries expanded her ministries to be an even greater asset to the kingdom of God. Based on a recommendation by the late Director Dean Mills in an effort to communicate the broad scope of ministries performed through P2P, Person to Person Evangelism changed her name to Person to Person Ministries in 2001. Under Kerry's direction a year-around ministry building (the Resource Center) was completed, a new exhibit hall/restroom facility was built, and three pavilions for children’s sessions were built. A house and 5 acres of ground adjoining Restoration Acres were purchased in 2013. The campgrounds have added RV camping sites, a relocated dump station, and additional water and electric hook-ups. The ministry was blessed to see her programs grow under his leadership with the addition of the Preacher's Workshop, Spring Class, and Fall Class, partnering with Restoration Destination in South Carolina, and an international mission trip each year.
In 2020, Alex Eddy became the Executive Director. Alex served many years in located ministry as well as serving in a variety of ways at Cincinnati Christian University. Alex attended the very first Family Camp on Marvin Wilson’s farm as a young boy, and has attended as well as preached and taught at Family Camp, the Spring Clinic, Fall Class and more. Alex is well-connected within the Church of Christ/Christian Church brotherhood which will serve as a powerful tool to propel Person to Person Ministries into the future. Alex was a Trustee of P2P before taking the position of Executive Director. His vision and passion for building disciples within the Lord’s church will guide his decisions and actions as P2P’s Executive Director.
In 2003, a Media Ministry began with Person to Person personnel recording her own programs (except for Family Camp) and traveling to various brotherhood events to record sessions and make them available to everyone.
As thrilling as her past has been, the challenge is for Person to Person Ministries to fulfill her mission of Assisting the church in making and building disciples. The Person to Person trustees are working now on a strategy for future growth and ministry direction.
We invite you to be a part of a ministry with a great past and a great future.
